Arrival in Dublin

 Travel day:  went off without a hitch. About 25 minutes early into Chicago so time to find the American Lounge and a glass of wine after all we are now on vacation and it is way after 5 oclock. 

We board the Aer Lingus flight to Dublin.  The first/ business cabin is more than half empty and a quick look at premium economy and it is 3/4 or more empty. Regular coach is packed.  The flight is only 6 hr and 50 minutes so a short hop from Chicago but it is an overnight night flight on a Saturday night which may explain why so many empty seats. We left on time and had to circle before landing because this leg also got in about 20 minutes early. 

Immigration was a breeze one couple in front of us and instructions “if traveling together go up together”. We complete immigration and walk into baggage claim and both bags came off as we walked up.  Clearly Dan’s parking karma at work.  We find the bus to the hotel unfortunately there is a 30 minute wait.  Weather is overcast and windy although a few crazy Americans are in shorts. 

Finishing this the next day. The bus let us off across the street from the hotel. It is an old Victorian style hotel built in 1880-1882 as a masonic girls school and orphanage. It is considered a 4 star hotel but Dan and I have our doubts.  First issue we are in the basement and several other members of thevtour are on the higher floors.  Second there is not 1 drawer in the room to put clothes in so you could unpack a suitcase.  Up side there is a single bed as well as a double bed in the room so there is space to put one suitcase while the other is on the only luggage rack.  There is a cabinet where a frige is supposed to be  no frige or shelves

The bathroom was upgraded so a decent shower.  No one has had any complaints. We shall see how the rest of tgevtrip goes
