Into Northern Ireland

 Well we have crossed into the UK staying in Londonderry North Iteland. There is absolutely no markings or border crossings as Northern Ireland is often considered part of Iteland although governed by Great Britain. The money has changed from Euro to Pound but northern Ireland if you go to ATM gives you a 3rd type of currency.  The history of Derry is amazing in that the major divide is due to Catholic vs Anglican. The history of the wall from 1600’s and the general persecution of Catholics  Things have improved since 1998 war and the IRA uprising. There at times when people discuss there nationalism. “An Irish person living in UK” or vice versa. 

Times are changing because each year there is a countywide Irish festival lasting for a week with lots of music, dance and story telling and this year it is being held in Belfast which is technically part of UK being in Northern Ireland. The festival is called the Fleadh. It will make the city come alive. 

So far the weather has held no rain to speak of, partly sunny but mostly gray with some thick clouds. The coastline of this part of Ireland is known for large surf in the winter, 50 ft waves.
